Profile
Raised as one of six kids in the fertile landscape of Northern New South Wales, Matthew was surrounded by creative energy and a strong, hands-on work ethic. With a passion for the arts and a family immersed in construction, interior design became the perfect meeting point of his interests. In 2004, he completed a degree in Interior Design along with formal training in photography at Queensland College of the Arts - laying the foundation for a design career that now spans over 20 years.
Matthew’s keen photographic eye continues to shape his work today, bringing a refined sense of composition, light, and materiality to every space he creates. Over the years, he has worked across Australia and internationally, gaining experience in residential, commercial, hospitality, civic, and education design. He has lived and practiced in three Australian capital cities, as well as abroad in London where he spent time at *World of Interiors* magazine and Kuala Lumpur, where he designed interiors and custom furniture for the luxury Raffles hotel group. Notable projects include work for Methodist Ladies’ College, Melbourne, and the Museum of Brisbane.
In 2013, Matthew founded his own practice, based between Northern New South Wales and South East Queensland, where he now works closely with homeowners and businesses to create spaces that are thoughtful, timeless, and deeply connected to place. His portfolio spans residential, hospitality, and retail projects, always with a strong focus on craftsmanship, sense of place, and composition.
Previously the founder of the globally sold homewares brand *Mr Cushions*, Matthew brings a considered, detail-oriented perspective to every project. With a down-to-earth approach and a love of good design, he continues to shape spaces that feel as good as they look and are built to be lived in for years to come.
